5-Course Dinner at the historic Nautical Restaurant

During the summer, the restaurant opens its outdoor terrace, providing picturesque views of the sailing ship Pommern and the inlet of Mariehamn. The building that houses the restaurant was originally constructed for the maritime museum when a group of Åland sea captains and shipowners took the initiative to establish it. In 1935, they formed the Ålands Nautical Club to bring their plans to fruition. One of the key financiers was Åland shipowner Gustaf Erikson, who owned numerous large sailing ships at the time, including the Pommern. Since the museum's inception, the restaurant has been an integral part of the building. The restaurant's ambiance has been well-preserved, with minor changes made. The grand fireplace remains in its original state, and the staircase leading to the restaurant retains its authentic character. The captain's salon, where smaller groups can enjoy their meals, maintains its historic charm.
